According to A Wall of Fire Rising, Guy has a dream which he wishes to go farther away from where he lives right now and have a new life by taking a balloon. He once says to Lili that “I know because I remember my father, who was a very poor struggling man all his life. I remember him as a man that I would never want to be” to show his eagerness of getting away from the life he has right now. This is his dream. But apparently he fails to do so. He tries to fly away, but actually he dies from it. And definitely there are a lot of obstacles preventing him from realizing his dream.

The two main characters from The Children of the Sea both indicate that love is like the rain. Although they are apart, they still love and miss each other. They keep writing letters or notes, trying to write down the different lives they have in different places. Unfortunately the boy dies because of the broken boat. Their love ends soundlessly with quiet but sorrowful letters.
