In-class Writing
Danticat's speech at Cheshire Academy on Monday was impressive and powerful. She talked about her childhood experience, the memories after moving to the United States, her personal opinion on racial problems, and aesthetics way of writing. What's most impressive to me is her opinion about the aesthetics education.
By gaining touch of the process of learning something new and combining this into writing, it's always a innovative way to accomplish a goal of writing aesthetic work. We need to focus on what we've experienced previously, and touch the new things by media. Then we will be able to find a new sight of what we've gone through in the past. By mixing these up, we can create a work with special and stimulating attraction; and therefore bring a different but encouraging power to the audience.
I think it's important to look back at our past. The history will be silent unless we recover and reveal it. Touching new things is also essential because they give us a different perspective. By doing this, we are able to find the "heightened awareness of and appreciation for all that touches our lives".
