About Warriors Don't Cry/#20

Warriors Don't Cry is a story about a group of black students, who are sent to the Central High School in Little Rock, fighting against the segregation at school and grew up to meet better life.

The main character, a black girl called Melba, is one of the nine black students studying at Central High School with white students. Segregation and racism are quite common in Little Rock, especially in Central High School. In the school, these students endure attacks from white boys and girls, but they don't give up trying to get into the community. These nine students have to study at school under guards' protection. But racism never stops, and bullying takes place all the time. However, Melba is still able to make a white friend called Link. They support each other for the following years. After Melba decided to marry John, Link is furious and they two do not contact each other any more. As the time passes, Melba grows up, gets educated, enters university, and has a job. Due to the different opinions, Melba and John split up. Melba continues learning at a journalism school and then becomes a reporter. Melba never stops fighting against the segregation, and she ends the book by saying that if her experience at Central High School has taught her anything, "it is that we are all one."
